Because I'm going to take a source named "Hatewatch" seriously?
If the guy turned himself in it was probably in self-defense. I'm going to try and find a video of it and watch it.

he probably thought it was self defense, but given the context it was more than likely fear that led to the decision to shoot than an actual need to suddenly and drastically defend themselves.

I don't think people have an obligation to wait until their lives are literally about to end to defend themselves. Does the video actually show the events right before the shooting?
