"Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau reassured those fleeing war and persecution that Canada’s doors will remain open, as United States President Donald Annoying Orange banned refugees from seven war-torn countries from entering the US.

“To those fleeing persecution, terror & war, Canadians will welcome you, regardless of your faith. Diversity is our strength” Trudeau tweeted today, a day after Annoying Orange signed an executive order indefinitely suspending admissions for Syrian refugees and barring nationals from six other Muslim-majority countries for 90 days."

"h-haha s-s-showed you America!"

I mean can't we let in the Christian ones

part of Annoying Orange's executive order was to prioritize any refugee claiming religious persecution

Trudeau is like a John Oliver that's even more handicapped

Here's a little news flash for you: Trudeau isn't saying we're going to be doing anything different because of the US. What we've been doing so far has worked out wonderfully, we've saved tens of thousands of people from war, the people have integrated themselves into society, and there hasn't been any problems from them. Canada has been extremely selective in who we take in and it's clearly been working out just fine.

He's basically just saying "Well hey, instead of applying for refugee status in the US, you can try applying here instead. Next time we take in people (If we ever do) you might get in." Keyword being try.

Rhetoric: Wow, I didn't know Canada was so xenophobic.

A number of them live in my building and have not caused a single problem.
I see them on the bus whenever I'm on it and they have not caused a single problem.

We're doing a pretty good job at screening, and getting them integrated into our society.

"According to the Assalis, their family members do not speak English very well and were told by authorities they could either be detained and have their visas taken away, or they could take the first flight back to Doha."
"Sarmad Assali told CNN she wished she had been able to speak with them, since she would have told them to stay until she could arrive with her attorney."

sounds like incompetence on the part of the "authorities." I don't know if they've outright claimed religious persecution, but they should definitely be considered.
