Anyways this is just getting drawn out and it's a very petty argument to begin with. My original post was meant to be taken as a joke because in quite a lot of political threads, the first comments consists with those not-serious joke posts, and I thought you guys would be fine with it because in those other threads damn near no-one gets as riled up as what happened here.

you are mistakenly assuming that only your intent matters when conveying meaning. language is a finicky thing and the meaning of words is decided by a sort of unspoken consent of the majority, if the majority or even a large minority of people who use "liberal tears" believe it to be a legitimate caricature or genuine trolling then you can quite easily be mistaken as serious despite any intention. ipquarx is pointing out that the required sizable population exists
