the school had an anonymous program to pay for those who couldn't pay

it works very well and I don't get why it's not the same elsewhere
maybe this makes too much sense because I live in Canada

What the forget, free lunches? Mate, I did loving 13 years of school without a single free lunch that I didn't have to work for (friends would pay me to run chores for them). We had a canteen where you could buy soft drinks, ice-creams, pies, noodles and stuff, but this whole concept of the "cafeteria"...you yanks are living the loving lives.
