So your solution is to pump an infinite amount of money into building new universities. Great
--- Quote from: Poliwhirl on February 28, 2017, 04:35:50 PM ---the forget do you qualify as a worthwhile degree then? Science, Engineering, Technology, and Math are apparently all out of the equation by your standards, despite the fact that we wouldnt be having this conversation had it not existed.

Good job putting words in my mouth you loving handicap. I said STEM was never a big field. If you want a well paying job then your going to have to research fields that have a need for more workers and go into that. A few years ago that was computer science, I couldn't say if it's the same now.

i think Trade and Entertainment are in the highest demand right now. either become a plumber or an actor
IkeTheGeneric:
Honestly, coming from a more economically conservative point of view, it would probably be a good investment long-term to look into free higher education in the wake of further automation of the American workforce. You're going to have a lot of untrained people losing their jobs and not have the education to help them reenter the job market without having to reinvest their savings into getting a degree. This could pose a potentially disastrous outcome if we can't gracefully transition into automation.
Our military is huge as it is, so increasing military spending seems kind of redundant after all the quick and dirty budget cuts lately.

so we're supposed to be able to predict market trends and focus our education and subsequently our lives around what will be the most beneficial to the economy, rather than what we're talented at?
LeisureSuit912:
We spent $601 billion a year on our military. We literally build tanks that we store in military facilities that we have no intentions of using. And yet we can't divert 10% of that to making college free, or increasing federal funding for education in general.
The US has incredibly stuffty infrastructure, and Annoying Orange's solution for that is to give tax credits. If you want to know what means; more pipeline expansions, less overhauls of municipal water systems (aka Flint, Michigan).
