PC taking ages to start up

How will I know if my start up settings are messed up?

Take out your hard drive and post pictures of both it's sides.

I have never done anything with the inner workings of a computer before. It's also my dad's pc so I would need permission from him before I take it apart.

run a few defrags. I recommend defraggler as it allows you to see just how defragged your HDD is.
I'm sure it's much more than that though. If it's taking this long your computer has probably been raped with malware.
