college i applied to makes account creation a pain in the ass

so i applied for community college, and of course got accepted. they make you sign up for some kind of service that's basically central hub for all your college stuff.
they want me to make an account, okay? the process is that your username is your firstname, underscore, lastname. (e.x. john_doe) but the thing is, there can be more that one john doe's! you have to keep adding a number to your name until you find the one associated with you. it's wonky af.
i have some important stuff involving the fafsa and applying for classes that i need to do asap. anyone else have to deal with bs online college servers like this?

i got the acceptance letter, but it looks like a template they send everyone. no personal info other than the return address

did you get a sheet with a student number or anythin? it might be related to that
