My problem with the new Temples it is a condensation of psych rock tropes with little originality. It's so overly dependent on glossy production but the songwriting is very stale, a problem I have with a lot of current rock music. And the new Gorillaz songs have some good moments (I like Hallelujah Money) but Ascension and Andromeda come off as so one-dimensional on the first couple listens; Ascension for instance feels like a cash-in on current trends in hip-hop.
