It also doesn't help that everyone keeps getting banned and coming back with new names or just deciding to switch over to a different account

about half of my posts are from 2010 thru 2012 - i didn't post much from late 2012 thru mid 2015 - and coming back from that break i hardly recognized anyone. even from mid 2015 to now in early 2017 i've noticed that the list of regularly active users has changed some

i think the blf change with the trends and state of the internet in general. as "internet culture" changes so does the tone of the blf, likely as with any other internet forum whose userbase browses other forums or social media. i add that last part because the car forums i've frequented haven't changed much since like 2001 (ik this bc of all the old tutorial/photo/build threads i've checked out) and those users (typically aged 16-36 i guess) usually only get on the internet specifically for cars; they're not interested in other kinds of forums or topics in mainstream social media. there's no fresh memes. practically isolated from internet culture

A few years ago, I made a decision once and for all to never look at the Drama board ever again. For a while, it worked pretty well. You could pretty much spare yourself from all the nonsense as long as you avoided that particular section.

But lately I've been thinking that it might be necessary to abandon Off Topic as well. There has always been a problem, but it has gotten worse with the addition of things like the 2016 election and the return of certain people. Most of Off Topic is now politics, obvious troll threads, a combination of those two, or joke threads.

This doesn't apply to everyone here, but many people are way too stubborn and don't think anything through well enough and they're too quick to destroy others over stuff that doesn't matter. That has always been the issue with BLF (that and the few people who are literally loving insane who can't seem to stop using BLF as an outlet for their madness and spam it up with gore once in while and somehow aren't totally ostracized for it). But now it's gotten more widespread to the point where you can't go into Off Topic at all without running into some nonsense about Annoying Orange or SJWs or whatever. This is more a problem with the real world than just BLF, to be honest. People are getting more defensive and less open-minded about their political stances in general lately, and what's happening in BLF is just a reflection of that.

Or, maybe the real problem is that our focus has shifted from addons and furries to actual real world issues, and BLF is no longer an escape from reality.

I also just want to reiterate something a few people have already said: If the forums are getting you down, you really should consider just leaving. Even loving Badspot once said "I recommend avoiding the forums." There are some cool-ass people here but the negative side of it usually isn't worth getting involved in.

tl;dr I rehash a lot of other people's posts

Please consider rule #1.  Been here for 7 years and you still don't know how to write a title...
