--- Quote from: Poliwhirl on March 26, 2017, 12:59:37 PM ---at some point it became impossible to fit in here unless you were hostile, which is especially obvious when you look at the way people treat young kids or newcomers. everybody feels like they gotta uphold some kinda tough guy act or else they'll get bullied by someone else trying to uphold a tough guy act.

honestly a big part of the problem here is probably the incredibly lenient rules. its just kind of human nature to try and push the limits of set rules, and the rarely enforced no flaming rule is pushed a lot, leading to conditions like this.

--- Quote from: IkeTheGeneric on March 26, 2017, 01:03:43 PM ---This one really rings true. It's increasingly more awkward because of all the le prestige forum veterans who act like hot stuff just because they've been around longer than everyone else, and you get this with pretty much every online community. They're only relevant solely on the merit that they've been here forever and they aren't afraid to exploit the automatic credibility they get for it and come off as extremely jaded and misanthropic.

--- Quote from: Frequency on March 26, 2017, 01:26:48 PM ---actually, i should've written that in the past tense. i'm too tired and too busy to waste time arguing when i could be doing more productive or more entertaining things. getting riled up is a real waste of energy and there's really no true "satisfaction" from "winning" an "argument" anyway.

i'd rather just chill with you guys than stuff about politics these days

isn't that something

they're not arguing
theviacom:
people here like to be condescending and "LE MEMES LE DISCORD ECKSDEE" because they either think it's funny, are insecure, or are copying everyone else

this place is mostly full of 13-23 year olds, so there's nothing else for you to expect

it's comparable to why everyone on some place like /b/ or /r9k/ or /g/ are so condescending

they just are, newcigarette

and this:

--- Quote from: ultimamax on March 26, 2017, 11:20:09 AM ---fairly certain 10% of users are almost psychopaths and they don't really give a stuff about who's behind the keyboard

everyone else acts with a learned ruthlessness because positivity/civility is still often met with hostility
