No one who currently uses youtube, think about this, there are TONS of people out there who don't use youtube, or really any website for that matter.
They just watch their Cable TV.

You guys don't get it.
Youtube isn't going to compete against other websites.
Googles going to combine Youtube as a part of their Google Fibre Services, and combat Comcast and Time Warner head on (which primarily DO NOT use their websites, but rather their CABLE INDUSTRY)

Hansome duded:

yeah but they're not a game changer. they were a simple convenience to do correcting of work that had some sort of typo or wasn't proofread/add a tidbit of information. has nothing to do with the actual quality of the content. it benefits people producing the content. annotations would be very situational for TV programs, but in the end, what do you really need to add in a tv annotation? an end card saying to subscribe to your channel? to expect a new episode January 1st? that you're going to livestream a video game? that you forgot something in the episode (acceptable in youtube videos but not in major tv productions)?

annotations were a somewhat trivial thing, even if some amateur video productions were to ride off of their existence. though i don't like the idea of them being gone, as channels have much more use for them than tv shows

tl;dr: lift your tinfoil hat. there are no advantages to annotations on a grand scale and this isn't the start of some big youtube war

The Murderous Cop:

matthew can you please stop conspiracy theorizing in my thread about a singular youtube feature

like holy stuff, calm down and stop taking whatever drugs you're on

sorrel:

Woah woah woah hol up
Annotations are the box things that people put at the end of their videos to link you to their other videos right? Or is that something completely different?

there's a new version of that, but the ones with text and links are leaving
