Welp, it passed 50-48. It's not completely through yet, but if it doesn't get blocked somewhere else along the way it'll become law and the FCC won't be able to block ISPs from collecting your data and selling it to literally anyone for a profit.
One day you google "alcoholics anonymous phone number" and the next day your life insurance premiums double. Get ready for the future guys, your illusion of privacy (As if they'll actually follow the rules) will come at the price of a 30% opt-out surcharge.
Also, here's a list of all 50 senators who voted for this pile of trash. If they're in your state, please, give them a call and tell them what a crappy decision they've made. It only takes a few seconds to google:

Give it a watch.
After that, you can help make sure this doesn't pass the house. It's super, super simple to get the name of your representatives.
Just go to this website: http://www.house.gov/htbin/findrep and enter in your zip code.
It'll give you a list of your representatives. Shoot them an email or give them a call, doesn't matter which. Say that you're one of their constituents and that you urge them to oppose the CRA resolution to kill the FCC's privacy rules.
Be polite, but firm about it. I can't make it clear enough how much this helps.
