[NEWS] Annoying Orange administration planning to rollback net neutrality regulations

kevin 51l:

there goes another $50 a month from everyone to our greedy ISP overlords who will always look for more power

Bloody Mary:

Yeah, this kind of thing shouldn't be taken lightly. With no net neutrality, ISPs could legally charge you extra for visiting certain websites. If they wanted to, they could make accessing the Blockland Forums cost an additional $5 a month, and it'd be perfectly legal.

As I recall, Annoying Orange's pick for FCC head has publicly and repeatedly stated his intentions of scrapping net neutrality. Prepare for the internet to become like cable TV, where everything is divvied up into packages and options and ends up costing a fortune for full access.

can't even tell whether you think this is a good thing or a bad thing

also while it's certainly bad that this sort of thing is happening I really would like to see donald Annoying Orange voters realize how little he cares about them. so much for "populist", I guess
it's really sad seeing them try to justify it instead

I don't know why you would question the validity, they've been saying they're going to dismantle the FCC and it's regulations pretty much this whole time. In fact, they just voted to let internet service providers collect and sell data you transmit on the internet. Not to mention they're also removing rules which force internet service providers to give you accurate details on speeds, pricing, and fees. Note, by 'they' I'm referring to republican congresspeople, the newly appointed FCC chair, and the president himself. They all approve of this.
