say something blunt like "Im moving away from retail stuff, and want to get unskilled/semi skilled labor path / on my resume" whatever.

it sounds like you want a real job, and consider this place a legit place to be working. and that is flattering in its own way to someone looking for new hires.

its ok to be specific and selfish sounding, its more sincere than all that hypothetical answered stuff.
