It's the kind of thing I used to do on Windows 98.
Don't know if it's possible with modern Ransomware.

last year, wikia sites got redirected to a russian research site for like an hour
i had about 3 tabs open on wikia that were already fully loaded and they all got redirected

I suppose that could really forget you over yeah, but don't you have to run an executable for ransomware to even work?

Not necessarily. It depends on how it was packaged.

unfortunately the worst viruses dont involve running things, just downloading an infected file. you wont get prompted anything either.

i think the prompt you get by windows when it says an executable is not trusted is an attempt to prevent these behind-the-scenes executions
