cappy, you have a fundamental misunderstanding of the left/right label. by definition, social policies which restrict human/civil rights are right wing and policies which expand them are left wing. economic policies are different. those which allow for market freedom are right wing and those which enforce market equality are left wing. national socialist germany was socially right wing and economically centrist or left wing. modern liberals are socially and economically left wing. 1800s democrats were socially right wing and 1800s republicans were socially left wing, but that has since switched. |
