does anyone here play disc golf?

except they're not frisbees. they're made totally different than frisbees
aka frisbees

aka frisbees

If I may though, I'd like to point out something. The reason why people who do disc sports don't like to refer to the disc as "Frisbee" is mainly because "Frisbee" is a registered trademark by Wham-o. I'd say call it whatever you want, but for example, you wouldn't want to wrongly use "Frisbee" (like in a company name) and get in trouble with Wham-o or something.

Also there's a lot of different discs, simply using "Frisbee" for all of them could cause some confusion, I guess.

a frisbee is a frisbee

there are different discs like there are clubs for golf. each disc has different aerodynamics and speed depending on mid-range, fairway, or whatever.
