They added an ending, an achievement system which gives you goals to lead to the end and it already had all the other qualifiers like challenge.

Minecraft has become a game, and a pretty good one that at that (although I'm not a fan of how much trial and experimentation is required for crafting recipes if you lack the internet or guidebooks).
