[NEWS] Confederate monuments are being torn down in the South

That's totally fine. It's crap like removing Civil War era statues and renaming Robert E. Lee Elementary that I can't stand. The Civil War is long past and a part of America's history. Sure, the North won, but both the North and South were a part of America before and after the war. If people didn't see any problem with putting up statues to commemorate the lives lost in battle or naming an elementary school after a Confederate general a century ago, who are we to now turn around and say "hey, we don't like this bit of century-old history, so we're going to rename this school". To me it's like removing a Roman statue of Julius Caesar because of the slaves he owned and brutal policies he enforced. (Disclaimer: I don't know much about Julius Caesar)
Not to mention the Confederate flag keeps becoming harder and harder to find for sale. The flag is not longer about a large, active rebellion against the northern part of the United States and a desire to continue slavery. It simply represents the losing side in the Civil War and commemorates the lives lost in the south. For decades people recognized this. That's why the Arlington Memorial has no problem with putting up both United States and Confederate flags to honor the history of the people that died in battle.
Fun story, the elementary school I grew up in used to have a fun game called "Civil War" that we would play in the cafeteria on rainy days (basically dodgeball with foam balls), but it has since been renamed so as to not offend anyone.

If it's going into a museum wouldn't that be a good thing so it's protected from the elements and random angry people who want to destroy it?

if you want to honor and protect the legacy of white tribals then go ahead, but dont expect everyone else to. thats why they are getting moved to museums

Speaking of blanket statements, I have never heard anybody say Robert E. Lee was evil.
The general perception is that he was a decent man who fought for the wrong side due to feeling he could not betray Virginia, which makes a lot of sense if you know his family history.
