Standing down would be if the workers were being attacked and the snipers were told not to do anything

Vandalism is never okay. If you want a monument taken down, you do it the proper way and get involved with whoever's in charge of the monuments.
That being said, I suppose it would depend on whether the statues were glorifying the confederates (Not exactly smart), or just depicting moments in history without any bias (Important to keep).

oh that's actually forgeted up. i didn't follow the berkeley incident much, but that sounds awful.
do protesters have the same rights and protections as workers for private construction companies or employees of the city?
