Tactical Nuke:

if the skits stayed short and sweet like his recent thing with "Bill" (I think that's his name) then I'd have no issues but oftentimes yeah they go on for a while

Also it's about loving time Jim made his TGWTG series. He's been talking about it for 3-4 loving years.

Doug wants so hard to not do this anymore, but he really should just Nintendo his stuff.

Do Nostalgia Critic, and then every week, or every other week, make a new show with a new format, and see what sticks, and when he finds something that sticks,
do it a few more times to see if it still sticks.

Nintendo does this with games that aren't "Mario Kart, NSMB, Smash Bros, or Animal Crossing (Still pissed that we didn't get a true AC game on the wii u >:C).)
Then alongside those you have your innovative BOTW, your Mario Galaxies, your Sunshine, your Splatoon, Your 3D World/Land,your soon to be Odyssey.

You have your safe choices, and your creative and risky choices.
This is how company that still wants to innovate without risking views should do it.

Keep the old, and try something new, don't shoe-horn bullstuff into the old to try and make it new.
We all remember the Cartoon-Network reboots...

Anybody:

out of the "original" tgwtg crew, the only person im still following to an extent is phelous

Decepticon:

i watched this earlier and i can really see where jim's coming from here

I loved Nostalgia Critic when I was in like 10th or 11th grade many years ago. Then all the episodes became skits with their own plots and I stopped watching.

this is pretty much how it went for me. i discovered nostalgia critic when i was younger (i think it was around 2009/2010?) and i really did love his older videos but as time went on even then i could see how ridiculous the skits were getting in quality/time, especially with his 'return'. the occasional cutaway was alright, and maybe a skit/plot for a special episode or something would've been okay too, but i remember at some point whole episodes ended up becoming dedicated to keeping a skit going rather than staying focused on the movie. i did try watching him again a few days ago actually, and i could bear through some of his older videos fine, but his newer stuff is just even more of a cringefest and a mess of 'skits' that just get in the way of what the episode was actually supposed to be about
