I'm not talking about being a professional athlete, but just getting your college or part of your college paid for is huge. That or just working hard in school, applying for scholarships, ect. on another note: affirmative action is often poorly executed, but it needs to exist in modern society. getting people into school isn't the issue most of the time, it's paying for said school. |

Money can be translated into goods and services, so the more goods or services you provide (through either being more efficient or more skilled/learning a desirable trade) then that translates to more money in your pocket, and in effect, more goods and services you can consume. You can live a VERY comfortable life if you overachieve in capitalism. In communism you don't get anything extra except maybe recognition, so there is very little incentive. |
