If you really go to lengths to defend free-market capitalism as it exists in the United States as some kind of entrepreneurial dream you're nothing but a tool for the corporate schmucks on Wall Street and the warmongers in the military-industrial complex. I'm sorry, if we're going to be stuck with ruthless capital as if it's meant to be, we're literally not going to survive as a species. It makes more sense if you don't give a stuff about anybody besides yourself, but if you pretend to care about the greater good and believe if we deregulated financial markets tomorrow that'd be a benefit for the economy, you're a sucker for a class of people that doesn't give a stuff about you and won't bother to reward you once they're in power. |
