if they went to a partial "percentage watched" formula for popular videos over a certain length and kept the "number of views" formula for those below it this problem would be mostly solved

also stop the stuff where you have to put out constant videos to make bank
not only does that kill animators but it makes all the stupid reaction vids and bad let's -plays

It seems every time they stuff out an update, it bypasses my ad blocker for about 2 minutes with an unskippable 60 second ad.
One loving time I got an ad that was 2:45 and it was unskippable, and it wasn't even relevant to what I was watching.

Youtube has turned into a money making buisness. Just like sports, youtubers nowadays only seem to give a stuff about money but some youtubers (like H3h3, filthyfrank, Jontron and The Winglet) actually give a dam and want to entertain people. The money part of youtube is also evident with all the clickbait "SPIDERMAN ELSA" videos which are marketing tacticts used to gain money on youtube as it appears to attract many younger audiences.

Back in 2010 and lower people weren't uploading for the sake to gain money, they uploaded to entertain people. If you compare youtube to sports you'll get what I'm saying as sports nowadays isn't as competitive as it used to be and the transfers for football/soccer are outrageous. Paul Pogba was transferred to man United for £89.3 million, if you take a look at the transfer list on wikipedia you'll see that a lot of other recent players were transfered for similar amounts. The only player that played 17 years ago and was transfered for an outrageous some was Luis Figo who got transfered for £37 million.

TLDR explanation: youtubers nowadays only seem to care about money, youtube is comparable to the way sports is becoming
