--- Quote from: Tactical Nuke on May 07, 2017, 10:31:27 PM ---the difference is that shows like ed edd n eddy didn't teach bad morals, offer special interest material or bastardize an already good cartoon to make it "more child friendly", then proceeding to turn around and insult all the old fans saying "they just don't get it"

this idea of "child-friendly" being lazily-written, watered-down filler needs to loving die
Neverending Story is a kids movie, yet you have a horse drown in mud on-screen and a demon wolf who wants to slice up and devour the main character, a little kid, as an on-screen presence the entire movie

timeless classic

ed edd and eddy felt bizarre and stupid to me, esp with how stupid all 3 of the main characters are. its was like watching stupid people forget themselves over to me. sure their stupid antics didnt end up with them somehow being successful (usually) but i felt like the show overall presented a bad example rather than a good one.

current shows tend to forego giving any sort of example at all, just being silly and unbelievable and tropey.

at this point we're all being that stereotypical parent whos like "these shows are stupid and need to stop" - its always been this way for every generation (as well as always having a few shows be the exception), and probably always will be.

that's your interpretation, but I saw three swindlers getting their asses kicked in the end of each episode to be a good moral of "don't be a cheapskate-starfish"

except now the show "adults just don't get" is stifling all other development on the channel and insulting everyone who disagrees with it
