Isn't that sleep paralysis? I get that all the time. It's more likely to happen if you're sleeping on your back, IIRC. |

I'm pretty sure it's caused by a skipped step in normal dream cycles so your body can't move but you are lucid and no longer dreaming. I think what he's describing is more like half-lucid deep sleep where he has motor function and can therefore open his eyes, but upon closing them again is so tired that he forgets he is dreaming and falls back into standard REM sleep. |

you guys ever have one of those dreams like in Futurama when Leela ate that space bee honey and she would think that what she's seeing is reality, but it turns out to be dreams inside dreams? I had this happen one time and it was legit one of the scariest times in my life. For a week I questioned whether I was dreaming and tried to convince myself it was by throwing myself into a (slow moving) car. |
