The Resonte!:

Aftermath: Swallowed by the Sun

its not a real life thing so much as it is a what-if global scenario in a documentary style most of which bringing out the death of billions somehow

Drydess:

theres one natgeo space documentary about how a neutron star is heading for earth and people have like a year and a half to figure out how to escape earth, including public opinion and all that stuff
it's actually a lot like a movie but half of it is commentary on how this would happen
not the best but if youre rly bored its a good watch

edit: it's here

Drydess:

oh yeah also it aint space but america the story of us is a good history series
