they pissed me off because i'd have to buy their own stuffty proprietary hardware instead of just ordering the part a lot cheaper on amazon/newegg.
are you sure you arent confusing dell with apple lmfao what, youve never had to do this

The laptop has 3 usb ports (iirc one or two is 3.0), sd card slot, headphone and mic combo jack, dvd drive, bluetooth connectability, and a solid build quality with decent specs for the price.

It's also a 15.6 inch screen with touch so you can use that if you ever want to

it was definitely dell. the one i recall the best is a psu that blew. i put a few i had laying around in it, but they wouldn't work. i called dell up to see wtf was going on and they told me some things in the computer are only compatible with dell components.

the laptop looks good tho

with a charger and a battery it is proprietary from like every other laptop brand but nothing else is, you're being paranoid over nothing really

i remember it clear as day dude. it was an optiplex that my grandpa said didn't work so i checked it out.

idk why youre being this worried over a charger

also an Optiplex is a desktop, not a laptop

i'm not worried about anything at all. i was just telling you the point where dell had proprietary components for their desktops. i don't know if they had them for laptops.

my issue with dell stems from desktops

INH recommended me a dell laptop when my old one kicked it and it's been great

okay cool u had a bad experience thanks for notifying me

my issue with dell stems from desktops
desktop =/= laptop

also more than likely the optiplex is old and its a prebuilt so ofc a psu is going to be very picky

Trust me Dell laptops are the complete opposite of stuff. There's a reason why every school in the US uses their brand, and the reason why they're still around today with multitudes of people recomending them. I've tried one out myself too, the brand is very solid in laptops.

i have a dell desktop and ive had it for 8 years, no issues apart from fixing/replacing the graphics card and the network adapter but that's pretty normal

buy me a ham sandwich
u can keep the $397

OP, to be honest, I wouldn't invest too heavily into making sure the laptop can game, because believe it or not once you hit college your life's gonna kick into overdrive. last year i bought a laptop that could handle gaming and the only times i've gamed on it have been bad times (i.e. finals week, 8 hours before a string of 3 exams) or while i'm at home and too lazy to boot up desktop. especially if you have a ps4 that you can use to play aaa games, don't give yourself the temptation of staying up all night / staying at your dorm/wherever you'll be instead of going out and doing stuff with people you meet.

idk, just my 2 cents i guess

at least one pencil
