If they both end up on television for people to watch, what's the real difference? I don't believe in the theory that stuffty behavior is only unacceptable if you're a celebrity. Kathy Griffin and backwood hicks are equally at fault for their own respective bullstuff.

Considering said celebrities have the spotlight more so than your average backwoods hick, wouldn't their statements and actions hold a little more weight, considering how much potential exposure it would have?

Perhaps, but if both Kathy Griffin and a backwood hick's dismembered presidents end up on television, they are essentially equally exposed. The public backlash should be equal.

Well yeah, the end result is because of how much exposure it got, but I'd argue that celebrities should have put a little more care and responsibility into their statements in actions just considering how often they get media exposure as opposed to your random Joe doing something controversial. Because of such, one could conclude that Kathy Griffin should be held more responsible for her statement than your random Joe's solely because she was fully aware of how much exposure and coverage it was going to get.
