why do people hate mayo so much

I don't hate mayo. I actually like a lot of stuff that uses it.
I did happen to have a bad experience with it, though. A plastic container with a sandwich exploded inside my backpack on a hot summer bus once, and I couldn't do anything about it until after I got home.
