[NEWS] South Korea offers peace treaty to North Korea
Juncoph:
why do these crazy hyper regimes always happen in asia, anyway? first taiping, then imperial japan, then north korea
it's like mixing western ideology and asian culture has a 10% chance of brutal side effects every time you do it
edit: and before anyone mentions them- national socialist germany cannot hold a candle to imperial japan on a fanatical basis
national socialist germany was murderous, but the germans (excluding the SS brass) weren't suicidal. meanwhile, the allies expected up to 10 million japanese losses in operation downfall (aka the invasion plan that was scrapped when the nukes convinced hirohito)
Ragequit:
i think its just that asian civilizations have always been pretty brutally violent in history. the mongols are a good example
Drydess:
then after that communism forgeted over the entire region
along with that though the terrain isn't really built for big elaborate empires
Tactical Nuke:
what a loving waste of time
Karl Marx:
Keep in mind that South Korea is a pretty bad place, too. They aren't a dictatorship anymore, but the people get worked to death like they are. North Korea shouldn't be a Stalinist dictatorship anymore, but living conditions will not improve if they take after South Korean familial-heirarchial capitalism.
Granted, nothing will repair NK's reputation either way.
