Fireworks are now legal in my state for the first time since WWII, but the town I am in still has an ordinance against them. That hasn't stopped anyone yet. We went out to buy firecrackers

Same, I'm in NY. But Schenectady has made them illegal again.
Even so, the fireworks that are legal here kinda suck.
