"Can't you just be a friendly neighborhood Spider-Man?"

While retaining enjoyable humor every so often, decent action, and Tom Holland (who isn't as pure as Tobey Maguire, but is miles better than Andrew Garfield), Spider-Man: Homecoming falls into the same territory almost every Marvel film finds its way into of simply staying safe and never attempting to try something new which is especially disappointing when considering its grace of not having to deal with an origin story and instead moving past that, yet it sadly doesn't grab ahold of creativity or innovation on its many opportunities to do so.

Following this, the possession of brutally low emotional connection with our friendly neighborhood Spider-Man and his odd desire to act extremely childish at times doesn't help as its failed attempt at unraveling any sort of tension, drama, or the necessities for a plot further brings the film down underneath the wacky pacing. There are moments of actual dilemmas and concerning decisions within his occasionally shown struggles that shine a hint of light on development, yet its held together without merit as the heart it rightfully needs cannot often be found.

On top of this, the villain, exactly like all other Marvel villains besides Loki, is expectedly poorly-written and weak without a clear and determined motivation for even the enjoyable tactics and common quirks of the great Vulture from the comics is no where to be seen here in which almost every other character in the film is near this low range from Spider-Man's extremely bland love interest to a dull Aunt May, although, Michael Keaton gave a fantastic performance in this average Spider-Man film, occupying its own generalized entertainment.

Spider-Man does whatever a spider can? Ha, this time, it's more like does whatever an avenger can...
