One thing that I want to point about some artists that I've seen, is that they remove the eye pupils, one quick example that I cound find is this Danny Phantom in a nutshell animation.

Why remove the eye pupils? It's unsettling and I've seen a few animators doing that, and it's not a hard detail to work with to justify it's removal.
