[Real News] Obamacare Repeal Fails

--- Quote from: Trymos on July 28, 2017, 01:42:03 PM ---democrats deal with the same divided stuff too but it wasn't really on healthcare, it was on SJW bullstuff. you had the moderates who believed that gender identity (we're talking about past the realm of transgender here) was bullstuff and you had those who believed hardcore on gender identity (see hillary)

when the forget did this happen? when have democrats done anything but passively be less stuffty in terms of LGBT stuff?
--- Quote from: Trymos on July 28, 2017, 01:42:03 PM ---technically they couldn't
it wasn't that they didn't exist, it's that they couldn't agree on stuff for years because decent chunks of republicans were moderates who thought the more severe healthcare bills were too extreme while we had the super far rights who thought the more moderate bills (obamacare lite as some of these forumers like to call it) were too tame.
the voterbase was the same way, super far right republican voters and moderate republican voters.

regardless of their reason for not having a replacement, if they dont have a replacement they shouldnt be trying to outright repeal it
Zloff:
ideally, repeal and replace with nothing

--- Quote from: Master Matthew² on July 28, 2017, 01:21:39 PM ---I think we should repeal the Senate and replace it with the Jedi Council

I'm all for that.
--- Quote from: Zloff on July 28, 2017, 01:51:30 PM ---ideally, repeal and replace with nothing

Which is ideal because...?

it's their way of trying to damage healthcare to a breaking point, they KNOW they're loving the american people over at first.
they're trying to force democrats to come to a compromise and they're gonna side with the moderate republicans for obamacare lite if they manage to pass a repeal without replacement. having half is better than not having any.
democrats also have the ability to do nothing at all even in such a stuffty situation and throw a stuffton of dirt on the republican party at the major expense of the american people for the next 3 years. it depends on how desperate they are to win the next 2 major elections. (2018 and 2020)
republicans could also make that do nothing plan backfire on the democrats too, similar to the shutting down of the government during obamas term where neither the republicans nor the democrats can vote on a budget which resulted in a government shutdown. left wing media (commonly dubbed as mainstream media and fake news lol) obviously pinned it as the republicans fault and right wing media blamed the democrats for everything.
same stuff would happen again if the repeal of obamacare passes and the democrats continue to stonewall any republican efforts. it's going to look bad on both, it's just a matter of who looks worse from it. republicans are hopeful with the whole fake news thing and distrust of the media (and fox news being an angel LOL) that they'll be able to convince democrats on a compromise.
it's extreme enough for the far right republicans to want it but it also has a decent backup plan for the more moderate republicans to want it. it's technicially a win-win situation for the moderate republicans to pass this bill. obviously there are some that still disagree like john mccain and a few others which is why it hasnt passed but that's my pov on this whole repeal without replace thing.

again when has specifically the democratic party done anything at all related to this? do you go on /r/tumblrinaction and just assume that its representative of the democratic party? did you know no one except very few dumbass teenagers on tumblr even care about the "special snowflake" stuff youre describing? no one actually believes in voidgender or something holy forget

this makes absolutely no sense. why the forget would they need to bring it to a "breaking point" when they have FULL CONTROL OF THE LEGISLATIVE PROCESS. they dont need to force the democrats into any kind of compromise at all.

pretty much their only choice is to do "nothing at all" because they hold no majorities nor the presidency. you can't "stonewall" legislation if you dont have even a tie in either house or the presidency. the stuff they CAN do (like filibustering) wont stop anything, itll just delay it

your entire dumb argument was predicated on the notion that democrats have any legislative power at all right now
