Although the idea is an inclusive idea in nature, all it does is force people to acknowledge and accept somebody's perceived gender. And thats perceived. At this point there is no standard definition for that term anymore. People seem to bend it to their own doings. Its a massive grey area where things could get very confusing very fast. Look at tumblr with their 28 something perceived bullstuff genders. I'm a firm believer that nobody needs to care, and nobody should care about what you perceive your gender to be. Ive got better things to worry about than what gender you are or are not. But even then, this brings in new idealisms that could easily be introduced because why not? We're already accepting this new policy right? And no, I wont be going into these idealisims for you since Id rather not dig farther into this. Im currently going through this right now at my college. A very loud and obnoxious minority of people who care way too much about what people think of them are complaining about people not paying attention to them, AKA: "not accepting their gender". This group of people have pretty much made the common areas uninhabitable. If they dont like how you're sitting, or speaking, or even if you just dont want to talk to them, its a BIG issue. And they are very vocal in letting you know. I bring these people up mainly because I see these kinds of people as the ones who drive this kind of gender progressive bullstuff, and this kind of thing just gives them a bigger platform to shout "reform" from. I just dont want to see any more people like the ones from my campus. But hey, I might be wrong. It might not do anything, it might even help. How would I know. I mean, can you list the life-saving benefits of removing the normative of gender roles? Id love you hear your professional opinion, because you know, we're all so qualified. |
