Google fires James Damore for memo on echochamber
Metario:
zerohedge
businessinsider
reuters
the memo
pretty wtf worthy imho
Cappytaino:
the memo didn't even say anything wrong or really controversial.
He just suggested additional ways to organically attract women to positions in tech instead of giving them special treatment in the hiring process
Conan:
yeah google firing this guy is pretty bs. the paper is well written and the points are made with a very conscious attempt not to sound insensitive but rather putting forward evidence he found in support of his theory.
he doesnt sound like he /wants/ it to be this way either, it looks like he just found a lot of evidence that supports this side of the theory. calling him a national socialist and claiming he doesn't support gender equality or whatever doesn't help their case. it would probably be more effective to try to present counterpoints to the proof he provided, for example the fact its only really been half a century since gender stereotypes have started to erode - it may take a lot longer than that to achieve an actual equality since said stereotypes have literally been around for eons
Ipquarx:
He broke rule #1, never make the company look bad. You get to be made an example of, even if it's not the right thing to do.

is the memo not internal? i don't think it would have gotten seriously leaked or given news coverage if it wasn't for his firing
