if you're still confused about who is and isn't alt-right, Gavin McInnes and the Proud Boys didn't show up to either rally

i think the reason people are especially upset about this is because of the moral grounding of it all. fighting because you feel like you're being systematically oppressed or sense impending political turmoil for yourself or others feels a lot different from fighting because you believe others to be inferior to yourself. whether or not in practice those are the actual ideologies at work is a debatable, but at the very least i think everyone can understand that those are the two basic motivations at play and that they're entirely different (ethically speaking) in the eyes of the majority

The difference is memelords won't actually go and do this stuff irl unless they're complete idiots
Mind you there is some overlap, naturally, but it's like squares and rectangles.. wait no, that's not a good brown townogy, not everyone on the alt right is a memelord
