I mean it would make it easier to keep the blame on national socialists, but the Charlottesville violence wasn't 'in response' to Antifa. The guy in the Dodge Charger drove into a crowd of regular, peaceful counter-protestors.

keyword "excuse"
as in they had no intention of using weapons only for self-defense but because of Antifa's activities people gave them more credence than they deserved
