What other instruments should I play?

I go for mid-range prices usually, never go too cheap. Helps to look for used stuff in good condition.

What sax is best for lead because I honestly bave no clue what alto and tenor is

all you need to know is alto is for friends, tenor is for men, and baritone is for fat kids
play tenor
it's lower than squeaky alto and higher and not as big as a tuba as baritone
