If you're into historical stuff, there's something to be said for Boston.
The leaves up in New Hampshire are supposedly all that come Fall, and has some good climbing mountains.
If memory serves, Cedar Point, Ohio has some roller coasters worth doing.
I'm told that Mammoth Caves down in Virginia I think is pretty cool.
I'm by no means well traveled, so that's about all I can offer.
