Mr Queeba:

here you go

also i strongly recommend updating the bios when you get the pc, as old ryzen bios's arent that stable. once updated tho, everything should run smoothly.

ill put together a build that uses the best stuff that you can get at that budget. i may end up getting a dedicated sound card to avoid interference that the mobo's audio may give off since it looks like you're really serious about audio stuff.

I'll let you make the build and then have everyone else review it in case people have different ideas on what should be used
particularly I only really know the intel processors and I'm unsure about the one you're suggesting and how much better it is

it's pretty much exactly the same, except you have a budget

yea I took influence from that
he has a budget too

--- Quote from: phflack on August 24, 2017, 11:02:14 AM ---probably should figure out which graphics card you're going to want first, since that's normally a large portion of the budget

I don't know where to start, but here's the requirements

* needs to be able to pass all personal benchmark tests (Just Cause 2, Blacklight Retribution) plus Draw with Jazza's graphics benchmark tests (IDK what they are) and run max shaders (maybe even soft shadows) on BL at 60 FPS for over 100,000 bricks (is this reasonable idk)
* I've heard of something called shadowplay that I want to look into, apparently it allows you to record games smoothly or something which would be good for recording my playthroughs of games like BL, ROBLOX or the Dark Souls trilogy

--- Quote from: phflack on August 24, 2017, 11:02:14 AM ---just how portable and compact do you mean, like a laptop, or like a desktop?

--- End quote ---

this is a desktop I'm making, but I want to be able to transport it to and from college without issues

Zloff:

r5 1600 and overclock it otherwise get the 1600x. you don't need an i7 or r7 imo
def don't need a x370 or similar-spec'd board
at least 2x8gb ram for sure
don't go 4k yet

are you going wired or wifi for internet
edit: might want one of these then. i use the 1300 and it's been perfect for me so far but i don't pay for ridiculously fast internet

normally I go wireless (if you mean ethernet)

Tactical Nuke:

also what is this overclocking everyone keeps talking about
it sounds like you're pushing the hardware beyond its limits which sounds impossible to me
