Popularity causes a company to treat it's property like an investment, so they repeat things that make it money, so by creating a new game breaking rule that makes it easier to basically kick anyone's ass by paying to win, they give a small minority the upper hand in turn increasing income.

i remember card trading being a thing in blockland a long time ago. i think someone made an ingame card trading thing with everyones in game avatars. it was p neat
