I don't care about the actual video but the idea that youtube is now locking down video that are "controversial" is setting off alarms; will it only apply to videos like this or will it spread to include more and more topics? Is it going to get bad enough videos berating youtube will get censored?

We've already seen videos on game channels get demonetized and videos that simply have curses in the title be demonetized, so I think it's only a matter of time before stuff hits the fan on hi

under these rules that probably won't happen. there's nothing in the rules that forbids controversial content, but they do prohibit hate speech, and these limited videos are made limited only if they contain extremist/supremacist content that doesn't directly exist to incite violence or hatred. the criteria are relatively narrow
still i definitely agree that youtube's been getting weirder and weirder about policing content and i wish they didn't do as much as they do
