Vid.me is a video hosting service that was launched to the public in 2014.
The company was founded in 2014 by Warren Shaeffer and Alex Benzer in Los Angeles, California, and was originally called Viddme. After gaining in popularity, Viddme purchased the domain for Vidme and changed its name.
It has been self-described as a hybrid between video hosting website YouTube and social network Reddit.
In April 2015, the site received a $3.2 million Series A round of funding. Investors in the seed round included, Mark Suster of Upfront Ventures, Reddit co-founder Alexis Ohanian of Initialized Capital, First Round, Lowercase Capital, SV Angel, Mucker Capital and Launchpad. As of April 2015, Vidme had 30 million uniques per month. The following year, it received a $6 million round.

hey, do you remember voat.co? it's a reddit clone that's supposedly censorship free and a better version of reddit, and everyone was saying they were going to go there instead of reddit
it's been 3 years since it's launched, and i only see posts with like 300+ upwhatevers on it
my point being that the entire userbase of a website is not going to move to another website when the one we have works just fine, even with some of the changes
no good content creator is going to abandon a giant pile of money for almost nothing
