Because it truly will be socialism or barbarism. Think about how climate change and global warming affects our society. How the forget won't that affect who gets what and how resources are divided among the populace?
Climate change will negatively harm human health, agriculture and food security, water supply, transportation, energy and ecosystems. All of those issues are inherently political because it's about who gets what.
