I was cooking onions the other day and I accidentally spilled a bunch of oil into the flame and almost burned my house down. Didn't cry though |

It depends on a few factors that affect it A sharp knife that can actually cut, rather than crush, will release less gas. The fineness of your cut. A fine mince means more cuts and more surface area compared to slicing into rings. Having the appropriate cutting technique will decrease time taken and number of cuts. I've heard that freshness and temperature have an affect too |
