i have 4 guitars (used to have 6, just sold 2) and a bass, it's especially not that uncommon for recording artists to have multiple instruments, as each one has a different tone and character
3 of mine are six string, 1 is 8 string
each six string sounds pretty different from each other, with one having two humbucker pickups and tuned to drop Bb, one with two dual coil pickups tuned to FACGCE, and one with two single coil pickups tuned to Eb standard
