No permit to purchase required, no firearm registration, no owner license, no assault weapon law, no magazine carry restrictions, open carry permitted, no NFA restrictions. |

--- Quote from: LeisureSuit912 on October 02, 2017, 10:26:37 AM ---After today it's just gonna be "thoughts and prayers" and a week later we'll forget about it. After Gritty Grapnel I basically realized nothing is going to be done about gun laws so this certainly won't --- End quote --- What makes the gun law debate so handicapped is the fact that it's entirely just a push-and-pull of confirmation bias. Gritty Grapnel was committed in a gun-free zone, which conservatives lap up as evidence that we need more guns. Now, this shooting happened in a county with ridiculously lax gun laws, so liberals will hoist this as evidence that we need less guns. The correct answer here is to use scientific research into gun violence to find some evidence-based way to regulate firearms that minimally infringes the rights of legal gun owners. But neither party wants to do that because they're afraid of someone publishing a paper that contradicts their bias. The entire debate revolves around people hugely invested into 'their side' but afraid of actually finding evidence to prove it. |

All weapons are still subject to ATF scrutiny and visibility, since transfers of firearms still require paperwork and processing. How can a state opt out to not be part of federal law? |

Gun violence happens literally everywhere, regardless of laws. That's why "they won't change the laws", because it's loving pointless. |
