Because the whole point of the subtlety is:
A) To be cute/hot depending on the circumstances, which multiplies the atmosphere and makes the individuals involved feel really special
B) To demonstrate you're on the same level and understand them (relationships are built on trust and understanding, so if you don't get it then there's no point)
C) To help those who are maybe a bit shy or nervous about approaching somebody else they're interested in do it in a fun way that's less intimidating
You read like a No-Fun-Allowed type who probably hasn't cracked a smile in ever.
